It’s Finally Baby Month! Time For All The Prep!

prep

I can’t believe I will be having another baby in less than a month. But also, I am so ready. This body of mine is tired and sore from carrying around such a big bundle of joy in addition to my toddler! With this post, I want to reveal the nursery, share the newborn essentials we will be gathering, and talk about any remaining items on my prep list! No matter what, this little one will be here in 3 weeks so the countdown is real!

I have approached the baby prep much differently this go around! It has been very laid back and most things were left until the last few months. We did move in late spring and then spent some time traveling this summer so it was also by default. With Brinley, I basically had most things down by halfway! I guess experience plays a big part in the prep! This time, I know what we will need and I haven’t had to do anywhere near the amount of research I did for Brinley. We also have a lot of the big ticket items so we just had to find everything in storage and reassemble it!

I feel like my pregnancy appointments have been much less daunting. Probably because I knew what to expect from those as well! I’m a lot more relaxed when it comes to the pending delivery too. I feel much more at peace about this baby coming whenever it wants to (if before Oct 28th) for several reasons. I have plenty to keep me preoccupied in my daily life so I am not as constantly anxious to meet this babe as I was with Brinley. Don’t take that the wrong way, I am extremely excited to meet this little one! And I just know my heart will explode when I do! But until that happens, I have a sweet toddler to chase around and a house to run and all the remaining baby prep to do, etc.

When I was pregnant with B, I didn’t have the distractions and was just not so patiently waiting for her arrival! I sometimes regret going forward with the induction in hindsight. I was so ready to meet her and become a mother that I was willing to do anything to make that happen sooner rather than later. Since I had no luck with it and such a traumatic delivery experience, I often wonder if I had been more patient and let her come when she wanted to, things may have gone better. But I digress! Now my only goal is to have a safe and smooth delivery for me and this baby, whenever that may happen!

Nursery Reveal

For this little one’s nursery, I went with a “colorful learning” vibe. With having to stick with gender neutral again, I didn’t want to redo green as I did with B’s room so we went with all the colors! With how into learning Brinley is, I thought it would be so fun to incorporate things like numbers, colors, and the alphabet too!

The polka dots are simply a wall decal from Urban Walls! 140 individual dots that you just peel and stick to the wall! My mom actually helped put them up! We used painter’s tape to place them all out, made adjustments, and then peeled the backs off to put them on the wall! It was so easy and honestly didn’t take very long! I originally was wanting to wallpaper this wall, but it was much cheaper and easier to just do a wall decal! I am so happy with how it turned out!

The learning side comes from a bunch of prints that I got off Etsy and framed and hung around the room! Everything from emotions to the days of the week! I put some in poster frames but I also used some poster hangers as well to add dimension. Truly, I love how these turned out as well!

I did include a few things from Brinley’s nursery like the rattan shelf, curtains, side table, bookshelves, and recliner. Those items didn’t really go with her new big girl room and fit perfectly with the new nursery. The crib is actually the same one my parents used for me and I love it! They didn’t have the matching changing table anymore but luckily it is still sold we just ordered a new one! The fluffy white rug I found at HomeGoods will be used for floor play and photos!

The decor is complete, all new furniture is assembled and the gender-neutral newborn clothes are washed and organized! We still have the baby gear to put back together, like the bassinet, swing, and bouncy seat. But those can easily be done. More photos to come!

Newborn Essentials

With this being our second baby, we have had to buy a lot less since we already have the majority of the big things we will need! However, there are still a few things that need to be replaced and restocked!

Remaining Prep Checklist

We have made leaps and bounds in the last few weeks as far as prep but there are still a few things on our list to be fully ready.

  • Put together the bassinet, swing, and other baby gear
  • Install car seat
  • Order Little Spoon meals for B
  • Deep clean house (this will be closer to when the baby will arrive)
  • Reread BabyWise
  • Inform pediatrician of new baby’s arrival
  • Pack hospital bags
  • Line up hospital newborn photos
  • Wash and organize all bottles, pacis, and pump parts
  • Charge Bluetooth speaker
  • Reread my newborn posts from Brinley! See here: 1, 2, 3, 4

Well, that is all for now! The next baby post will probably be introducing him or her to the world! Stay tuned.
