How do I have a 6-month old already? I just can’t even believe it! Okay, so this post is coming a little late because we actually were at the beach last week when Brinley actually turned 6 months old!! So of course we had to do a whole thing for her to celebrate!!!

First of all, Brinley Bear loved the beach!! The ocean put her right to sleep, she loved jumping in the waves and didn’t mind the sand one bit! It was a great week! Ok, let’s jump into her 6-month update!!

6 Month Checkup

Brinley had her 6-month checkup yesterday and weighed in at 14lbs 13oz so almost 15lbs!! This is a great accomplishment because we kinda had a little weight gain issue at our last check-up. We started adding some cereal to her bottles and it helped a ton!! Her spit-up from her reflux has gotten extremely better because of the thickness added to her bottles! 🙌🏼

She is also still a tall girl! Measured at 27inches!! That’s the 91st percentile! Woohoo! I love being tall so I hope she will be too! She is all leg so far 😍 Everything developmental checked out fantastic too!! I’ll share all the cool things she can do now below!!!

Last and definitely least, she got another round of shots and took them like a champ. I hate to see her hurt but she always recovers so quickly! My brave baby girl! Also, my mama got to come to the appointment with us since she spent the week with us after we all left the beach!

6-month Milestones

• Not only is she rolling like crazy, she can do it so fast now! Almost as soon as you lay her down she rolls! Still not a huge fan of being on her belly for a long time but if she has the right toys in front of her she is good.
• Brinley is a huge fan of her toes now. Loves to eat them as much as possible! I’d love to be as flexible as she is right now! Insane!
• She also love to talk! It has been so fun to hear her sounds transform! She started saying Mama this week and it is by far my favorite thing ever! Her sweet little voice! Gosh! I’m a puddle!
• We started purées a few weeks ago and she loves all fruit! Hates green beans and only tolerates peas.
• One of her favorites things to do is whip things around! Toys, burp clothes, my hair. Whatever you gotta do to burn that energy girl!!
• We also have a sitter now! We still fall over and bonk our head sometimes but she is getting stronger everyday! Definitely still prefers to be standing though.

Sleep

Gosh, I really have to say we have a fantastic sleeper! Even when we went to the beach last week. She slept in a pack n play for the first time in a brand new place and still slept all through the night without missing a beat! Took naps on the beach all day long and then transitioned right back to her routine this week when we got home. I’m so impressed with her! Even on those long road trips in the car, she napped like a pro!

We did have to quit the Magic Merlin Sleep Suit at the 6-month mark though because she started rolling in it. So apparently she is a belly sleepy now. Which of course scares me to death. But even the first night in a sleep sack she still slept right through the night.

Another thing we did several weeks ago was sleep training. She now puts herself to sleep within like 5 minutes of us putting her down which is AMAZING!! Huge fan of that!!

Feeding

Brinley girl LOVES to eat!! She sucks down her bottles and you can’t scoop baby food into her mouth fast enough! Unless if it’s green, she won’t eat peas or green beans yet lol. We were blessed with a good eater!! Hopefully, she will stay that way when mommy asks her to finish her veggies! Lol.

I recently introduced formula into the mix. Which I will say was a tough thing for me. Our current routine goes like this: Nurse first thing in the morning, formula bottles the rest of the day. We do solids around 5 pm (but will start to do twice a day now that we got the go-ahead from her doc). We are also going to do a bit of baby-led weaning as well as start introducing a silly cup! Although she hasn’t been the biggest fan of table food yet.
