Our Baby Registries

Hi friends! Today I wanted to share our baby registries for a few different reasons. I’ll first start out by saying I had my registries mostly done by week 12 because well, I had known I was pregnant for 12 weeks already. When you have the full 40 weeks to dream about your baby you have to have something to channel all that thinking into! So I cracked down on my registries very early on. I researched other mommas lists, I looked at countless checklists online and crept on my friends’ lists as well! I researched products, decided on the things I wanted the best quality, and added everything I could think of that we would need.

So our registries are quite large. One reason for that is I will be having 2 baby showers. One in South Carolina and one in Indiana. Another reason is strictly for me. I wanted everything we needed in one place so I would know what we still needed after the baby showers! Another bonus to having everything on your registries is that a few weeks before your due date, amazon gives you a completion discount of 20% off of everything left on your registry! Target gives you 15% off! So lots of reasons to fill those registries!

What to add

It was so fun to make them. Although sometimes it was stressful when it came to big-ticket items like strollers and car seats, highchairs, and monitors. After some research, it was easier to pick which things were best for our family. I talked to a lot of mommas about certain items to see if they were even worth it.

The only difficult part was finding gender-neutral clothes that weren’t white. Since we are not finding out the gender I had to get creative with clothes options. I found that Target had a great feature where you can add items from other websites! The smaller boutiques had a lot more gender-neutral options than the big brand name stores. But let’s be real, it will not matter what color the onesie is that this baby wears for an hour before they spit up or have a blowout in it. Haha in those first few months it probably won’t matter what they are wearing since there will be multiple changes each day.

Tips

I wanted to share a few hacks that I learned from other mommas with you. Ways to save money and things you don’t actually need.

  • High chairs. I have heard from several mommas that there is no need for the expensive fabric high chairs. The most recommended one was the $20 IKEA high chair! You can take it apart for travel, take it out back and spray it off with the hose. All kinds of pros. This is the one we will be going with.
  • Wipe warmer. Everyone says they never end up using this product.
  • Bottles. Put multiple brands of bottles on your registries. You never know which kind will work best for your baby. If you make your registry with Babylist there is a bottle box you can add that has several kinds of bottles in one box!
  • Breastfeeding. DO not be afraid to add nursing supplies to your registries! If for no other reason than the 20% off discount you’ll get closer to your due date!
  • Plan past the newborn phase. Think plates, sippy cups, etc.
  • Diapers. Diapers. And more Diapers. All sizes!
  • Another tip for the more expensive items or the items you are ok with not having brand new, check sites like eBay, the Letgo app, Craigslist, etc!
