Just A Little January Recap – 2023

january

I am not good at documenting things. I always forget to write in my kids’ baby books, I don’t scrapbook or write letters very often. But I’ll tell you what I do, I blog and I make photo books! So this year, I am going to do my best to recap every month. It is my son’s first year of life and my daughter’s third. Better late than never! January, the first month of the year.

And what a month it was! It came with a birthday, fun memories, a shocking diagnosis (blog post with more details on this coming once we know more), and a lot of joy! I always feel very inspired at the beginning of the year so I set some goals. One of those was to move my body in some way every day (and close my apple watch rings every day). To my surprise, I was able to make that happen. There are a few more days left in the month but you better believe I am not going to mess it up now!

I actually set this goal with my sister because it is one of those that is more fun when you have someone striving for it with you! She may be all the way in Texas but we had so much fun with it that we are going for another perfect month in February! I think it does help that we live in places that have pretty mild winters. We were able to get outside for walks and runs most days!

Workouts & B’s Birthday!

I signed up for the January free month trial of ClassPass. I tried out all the studios and gyms downtown Greenville! It was fun to challenge my body in new ways with hot yoga, a hardcore circuit gym, cycling, and more in between my run days! It is a much more affordable way to get into these studios without signing up for memberships! I loved the variety! I may do a month here and there in the future if I want to switch up my daily movements!

The first major event of the month was Brinley’s 2nd birthday! We had a Mickey Mouse party and celebrated with all our friends and family! She learned the Happy Birthday song and played with her balloons for two weeks after! We now are the proud owners of 5 Minnie and Mickey dolls and we take care of them all daily!

Kiddos

I started back at work at the beginning of January and going to church regularly again now that Liam is old enough to be in the nursery. It was nice to get back to our regular routines. I was honestly shocked at how easy it was going from 1 to 2 kids! I know it is still early, but Liam just fits right in! Some of my favorite daily moments are in the mornings getting the kiddos up. Then our family dinners at the table! Before we had kids, Josh and I rarely ate dinner at the table and now we do just about every night! It is so sweet! Sometimes we will even facetime grandparents in to join us!

The days go SO fast! I know everyone always says that but may they are FLYING right now! The weekends go by the fastest! I am really enjoying breastfeeding this go around! Liam has had zero issues (minus the occasional nipple confusion) and my supply has been great so far! Even after returning to work! And if I am being honest, I am still loving the middle-of-the-night feeds! It is so easy, he wakes me up, I snuggle him while he is still half asleep and eats, and then we go back to sleep. It felt so much harder when B was a baby. We would have to give her a bottle while I pumped because she wouldn’t latch. Then by the time she did, she was sleeping through the night! I will be sad once Liam doesn’t need those middle-of-the-night feeds anymore.

I’ve gotten back into my reading groove and it makes me so happy! I read while I pump, on my daily commute (audiobooks), while I run, and before bed! I have already read 3 books this January. It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey, The Chemistry of Love by Sarah Wilson, and Beyond the Moonlit Sea by Julianne Maclean! All were very good! If you are a reader and have a Goodreads account, let’s be friends!

Brinleys Big News

The biggest thing that happened this month was that Brinley was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). We are still in the very early stage of learning about this and figuring out how severe it is. Once we have a few more doctor’s appointments and get some test results back I will give a more detailed update on what’s going on. I have always shared things like this, and our infertility struggles because I believe community is important. We are supposed to do life together and pray for each other. So maybe my sharing this can help someone else and help us become connected to others who are dealing with the same things.

That’s really all we had going on this January but please enjoy all these photos below of our silly little family!
