Yup, that’s my new name to 16 wonderful middle school volleyball players for the next month and a half! Coach G! How fun right?! Remember in one of my last posts when I was talking about how all these opportunities were just falling into my lap? Well, this is one of them! I am so excited!

Volleyball is one of the most interactive games going. It is a game of intuition, imagination, improvisation – but most of all, of reciprocity – of teamwork. There is no way to free-lance in volleyball.

I have never coached anything in my life. Working with kids is my favorite but I have only worked with elementary-aged kids so everything about this experience is brand spanking new to me. Also, I had never set foot in this school, I didn’t know their school colors or biggest rival or anything. But being the person I am, I am jumping in with both feet!

Beyond Blessed

I was asked if I was interested in the position and then setting up a meeting with my assistant coach all within 3 hours. To say it all happened very fast would be an understatement. I didn’t even get to talk to Josh about it until after I basically had the job! But that just leads me to believe even more that this opportunity is a gift from God.

Having only lived here in South Carolina for a few years, I could have never imagined I would have a chance like this! To get to know the school system, some of the teachers and make a ton of connections! Plus have a chance to make a positive impact on these girls’ lives!

Good looking team right?! I am one very proud coach already and we haven’t even played a game! I would have never gotten through tryouts and the start of all this without my amazing assistant Coach Howell either! Wish us luck and feel free to follow along! I will most certainly keep you posted on how things go! I am very nervous but mostly excited to get the season started and have some fun with these girls!
