A Weekend at Purdue

My family is huge Purdue fans! This school runs in our blood! Just about everyone has gone to Purdue for at least a year! My sister is a senior there right now studying aviation! Pretty cool, I know! Well, each year Josh and I plan on going up to Purdue for at least 1 football game! This past weekend that’s exactly what we did!

Day 1

It was a very full weekend! We packed as much as we possibly could into the few short days we were there! Friday we arrived around dinner time and went straight to the bookstore to buy new swag! Then, we went to the Purdue airport where Becca and her boyfriend Ryan, took us up for a joy ride in a little bitty Piper Warrior! Ryan even made me take the controls and fly the plane for a few minutes! It was so cool! We flew all over campus and saw a rainbow in the clouds! Such a fun experience! After the flight, we met up with my parents and we all went to dinner!

Day 2

Saturday was quite the day! We all got up BEFORE the crack of dawn to go breakfast clubbing! For all of you that are not Purdue fans, breakfast club is when you get up way early, dress up in costumes, get in line at a bar called the Neon Cactus and wait until they open at 7 am. You then proceed to run to the piano bar inside and get a table and sing your lungs out until around 10 am. It was so fun!! So many fun memories!

Next up was the tailgate! We got to the lot around 11 am and set everything up! The weather was so nice, not too hot but warm enough to still be in shorts! We played cornhole, kan jam and threw the football! We jammed to tunes, had a lot of visitors and met new people as well! About an hour before kickoff we headed to the stadium! Even though we didn’t get the win we were looking for, we still had a blast cheering and people watching! To say we crashed hard that night would be an understatement. We had been up since 3 am and were dead tired!

Day 3

Sunday morning the guys were supposed to go golfing but we woke up to a rainstorm outside so to brunch we went instead! After a lifegiving meal, we all hit the road back to our respective homes. It was the longest drive home Josh and I have ever had. We had to switch off every 2 hours because we were so worn out from an awesome weekend!

Although we were exhausted, I would do it all over again time after time! I love how intentional our families are about spending time together! Another Lax family adventure is in the books! Purdue has a special way of bringing us all together!
