Shop Small Series – A Chat With The Creator Of CreativeBeadCo

Small

I love to shop small, especially from sweet souls like Emily Hasty! She has the cutest shop for custom handmade bracelets and such and today we are chatting all about it!

Tell me a little about your shop.

CreativeBeadCo was founded in December 2021.

Why did you start your shop?

CreativeBeadCo was brought to life after several family members requested personalized bracelets with grandchild’s names on them. I had placed an order locally with a small shop. A week before Christmas I received an email that they would not be able to complete my order. I sat off to the local craft store and several days later, the first set of personalized CreativeBeadCo bracelets was born.

What are your hopes and dreams for your shop?

My hope is always to make personalized bracelets with meaning for those who order.  My dream for my shop is to continue to stay open although I have returned back to the workforce full-time.

What are some of the benefits of owning a small business?

My small business helps support our family financially. Bracelet making and designing is a hobby therefore after a long day of home/work life, sitting down to create custom orders is an outlet. Owning a small business means you can work when time allows, oftentimes I work in the evenings after our child has gone to bed.

What are some of the struggles?

I take in-person orders and own an Etsy shop. Owning an Etsy shop means you are up against thousands of other shops with similar products, a struggle was always creating something others couldn’t\ buy elsewhere.

When is your busy season and why?

Christmas is my busy season and the one I enjoy the most. People are looking to give a heartfelt gift and a personalized bracelet set has always been a perfect option.

Give us a simple step-by-step process of starting a small business.

First, find something you enjoy making or creating, it has to be a hobby you enjoy, this will help it feel less like a daily job. Second, a catchy name that stands out to others is a plus and they will also remember your shop more. Third, market your product that way others want to purchase, pictures need to be close to professional.  Last, social media is a must, posting weekly, giveaways, and polls to engage your customers to purchase.

How can we support your small business?

Sharing, liking, and reviewing the product purchased is the most important thing to any small business. People are easily influenced to purchase items that others have.

What are a few of your favorite tools for owning a small business?

Etsy.com makes it easy to run a shop. They keep track of all orders and finances.
