How to Decompress After the Holidays

Okay, so the holidays are over and it’s that weird time in between Christmas and New Years’. It has been go, go, go for like 2 months now but everything has come to a halt. What do you do now? It can be a very weird transition to be so focused on the next holiday event or thing to check off your to-do list and then nothing. When it all is over, it can be hard to get back to normal. Today, I am sharing some tips on just how to get back to normal and decompress.

Tips to Decompress

  • Find your routine again – if that’s exercise, devotional, meal times, or even bedtimes, find your usual again.
  • Spend time in the sun – yes I know it might be cold but that vitamin D will do you so much good! It can help with any winter blues as well!
  • Have a good cry – Have you been holding in some stress or frustration from the holiday season? LET IT OUT! Now is the time! You don’t have a party to get to so just let that emotion out so you can move on and feel so much better!
  • Catch back up on sleep – There are a lot of early mornings and late nights during the holiday season and we can get very sleep-deprived, very quickly! Now is the time to catch back up! Take those naps!
  • Take a social media break – We spend so much of our time playing the comparison game with people on social media. We see their constant highlight reel and wonder what we are doing wrong that our life doesn’t look like theirs. SO SILLY! Give yourself a break, friend!
  • Focus back on self-care – Now that you have spent a few months focusing on everyone else around you, now it’s time to get refocused on yourself and what you want from this brand new year coming up.
  • Ask for help – Are you just struggling to get back to you? Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Help to clean the house back up, help to find the motivation to exercise again, help to process emotions, just ask! Chances are, you have a friend in the same boat!
  • Spend time reflecting – If you are having trouble seeing the good retrain your brain to focus on the good! Sit down and journal about all the wonderful things from the holiday season! Maybe even scrapbook about it or something!
