Each season brings its own traditions! Fall is one of my favorites because of the weather change it brings along with the fun things we do during this season! Not only is it football season but it also brings a sense of deep gratitude! On cold rainy days, I am extra thankful for a roof over my head and the ability to pay for the gas bill! On sunny crisp days, I am grateful for my health and ability to get outside and go apple picking or visit the farmer’s market! It’s been fall here in South Carolina for 2 seconds and I’ve already had soup at least 5 times!
I will admit I don’t enjoy decorating for all of the seasons but Fall and Winter are big ones for me! I love all the oranges and reds everywhere for fall! Flowers, pumpkins, gourds, leaves, woodland creatures, cinnamon sticks, candles galore, and wreaths! I stay away from Halloween decor because it’s not really my thing. I didn’t really like dressing up as a kid because I grew up in the midwest where you had to wear a winter coat with every costume anyways because it was freezing by the time it was Halloween! But give me all the fall decor items!! My favorites places to shop for decor are the Target dollar section, Kirklands and Hobby Lobby!
One of my favorite fall traditions is rewatching all of the Harry Potter movies. It sparks my imagination all over again and makes me feel like a little kid again! I grew up with those books and went to each midnight movie premiere with my family. We listened to the longer books on audiobook on our family road trips! So many great memories made around the story of Harry Potter! Now getting to watch the movies with my husband each fall brings it all flooding back! Everyone needs a little magic every once in a while!
Picture this: a cold fall Sunday afternoon, you spent the morning at church in fellowship with great friends. You get home to a chilly house. What sounds yummy for lunch? If you said pepper jack grilled cheese sandwichs you guessed right!! I think this is one of my husband’s and I’s favorite things about the cooler weather! It’s something so simple and available all year but it tastes so much better on those chilly fall days!
Did you know that candy corn was invented in the 1880s?? It was originally called “chicken feed”. I don’t consider my house fully decorated for fall until I have candy corn sat out somewhere! Such a yummy treat to grab on the way out the door or headed to cozy up for a movie! I also love the pumpkins treats! I have a particular way of eating these as well! Stem first of course haha!
New fall TV is one of my all-time favorites as well!! Not only do all my favorite shows return with new seasons but we get new Hallmark movies, Hocus Pocus is played about 500 times and the launch of new shows as well!! I am a dreamer so I really love movies and tv shows! If you don’t watch Hocus Pocus at least once was it even actually fall?! Grey’s Anatomy returns, This is Us comes back, and so many more!
There a lot of traditions we haven’t adopted yet because they will be so much more fun with kiddos! Like apple picking, pumpkin painting, jumping in the raked up leaves, etc. But that’s the best part about traditions, you can always start a new one!! What is the tradition you’ll be adding to your family this season?? If you need some inspo here is my fall bucket list!

Another sign of fall that warms my heart is seeing the harvest being brought in. That is the true smell of fall.

I think buying a new fall scented candle is always my favorite! It just makes me feel like the season is upon us!
“I grew up in the midwest where you had to wear a winter coat with every costume anyways because it was freezing by the time it was Halloween!”
