I know it can be really tempting to just go buy the cool new toy and wrap it up. But I can promise you that another toy is the last thing any toddler needs. Let’s think outside the (toy) box and talk about some really neat and creative gift ideas for all the toddlers in your life! I am sure practical sounds boring but wouldn’t you rather gift them something they will use long-term than just another battery-operated ABC singing piano? I am talking memory making, joy bringing, and unique fun! Sounds way better right? Yeah, I agree. Let’s dive in!
Gift Idea #1 – Zoo Membership
What little kid doesn’t love going to the zoo? It’s educational, a reason to get out of the house, fresh air, and so much fun! The reasons why this would make a great gift are infinite! Once you actually look into what membership gets you, you’ll be sold! At my local zoo, a membership gets you unlimited daily admission for an entire year, discounts on programs, events, birthday parties, and camps, AND free or discounted admission to 130 OTHER zoos around the country! Talk about some serious bang for your buck! And it’s affordable!
Gift Idea #2 – Subscription Box
Now the possibilities with this gift are endless. There are tons and tons of different companies out there doing subscription boxes now that you can tailor your gift to what your toddler is into! Whether it’s crafts, food, sensory toys, the list goes on! A lot of boxes change as the child grows so that’s another plus!
Gift Idea #3 – Lessons and Classes
How freaking fun is this idea? Dance, music, art, swimming, gymnastics, etc. This truly is the gift that would keep on giving! I know as a parent, this gift would freaking make me excited too! It is so fun to watch your child learn something new!
Gift Idea #4 – A Pet
Yeah, I went there! Come on, what kid doesn’t want a pet! Even at this young age, it is good to be around animals! Plus they can grow up with their best friend! Adorable, I know!
Gift Idea #5 – Books and Puzzles
You can never go wrong with books and puzzles! There are subscriptions, you could wrap up a new book to open each month, big books, little books, special books, and library cards! Puzzles can provide hours and hours of entertainment! I would even throw blocks into this category too!
Gift Idea #6 – Build-A-Bear
Yes, I guess this would technically be a toy. BUT they get to help make it, and who knows, it might just end up being their favorite thing to snuggle!
Gift Idea #7 – Outdoor Fun
Sprinklers, water table, swings, slides, sensory table, sandbox, etc. We are getting Brinley a water table because that girl loves her some water! She has had a swing since she was like 8 months old! The fun possibilities are never-ending!
Bonus Ideas
- Nugget couch or Sams Club dupe
- Tunnel/ball pit/tent
- Children’s museum passes
- Money for their college fund
Pro Tip: Wrap up some toys they already have and might have forgotten about! The real fun is in the unwrapping, am I right?!
